While Susan and I were dining on the "brown bag special" at the Sonic in Lago Vista (THE-see-and-be-seen dining spot near the Casita), the lights at the local high school ball field fired up. It was a beautiful Spring evening with a full moon rising over the Hollows. So, we grabbed our drinks and headed over to watch two Little League teams battle it out.
The Marlins and the Cardinals were fielded for a real Hill Country showdown. This is big stuff for the North Shore, folks. Everyone knows everyone else. Dogs, barefoot kids, nachos with that cheese you buy by the gallon at Sam's Club. Small town America is alive, and it doesn't get any better.
So, if you see the lights and want to witness our country's favorite sport like it was meant to be played, drive over to the Lago Vista High School field west of town off of Hwy 1431.
But watch for fly balls!
